Southampton deliver emphatic performance to thrash Brentford

Southampton delivered an emphatic performance to claim a 4-1 win over Brentford on Tuesday.

The win sees Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side climb to 11th on the Premier League table.

Polish defender Jan Bednarek gave the hosts the early lead when he glanced in a header from James Ward-Prowse’s corner.

Brentford equalised with their first shot on target thanks to a volley from Vitaly Janelt.

Saints retook the lead when Ibrahima Diallo shot off the post and off Brentford goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez for an own goal.

The second-half was all Southampton as Armando Broja doubled the advantage shortly after half-time.

The Chelsea loanee raced on to a superb through pass from Oriol Romeu before slotting past Fernandez.

Substitute Che Adams scored five minutes after coming on to round off the win.
