Scotland head coach Steve Clarke dismissed speculation about the commitment of Ryan Fraser.
The Newcastle United winger has been criticised for making himself unavailable for matches in November.
The 28-year-old did go on to apologise for his actions, which Clarke took on board immediately.
“There was no process with Ryan,” Clarke told reporters.
“I said in March, when he missed the two friendly matches, we had a chat.
“Ryan wasn’t playing for Newcastle and I said at the time, if he was fit and available and playing well for Newcastle, he’s definitely one we have to consider for selection.
“That’s why he’s in the squad this time – because he’s fit and available and playing well.”
