Rodgers pleased with Leicester win at West Ham

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers was pleased after their 2-0 win at West Ham.

James Maddison and Harvey Barnes scored for the Foxes.

Rodgers said, “For all the players it’s a challenging situation. You’re very focused. You want to play but in the back of your mind it’s natural to be thinking of the World Cup, meeting up with your national team on Monday. It’s testament to both sets of players. The game was really competitive. There were no challenges shirked.

“We could have been better with the ball. It was not one of our most fluid performances but what we have is this resilience. We played well and lost in the first seven games. Those moments we got punished in. We have done a lot of work on on defensive mentality and organisation. That was needed today.

“You come away to West Ham, who have really talented players, who can score goals. The mentality of the team was superb.

“It’s a long season. We didn’t start well. There is no mystery – hard work on the training field.”
