O'Neil hails 'excellent' Bournemouth for victory over Everton

Gary O’Neil was delighted with his players as Bournemouth defeated Everton 3-0.

Marcus Tavernier, Kieffer Moore and Jaidon Anthony struck for the Cherries.

Caretaker boss O’Neil later said, “Excellent with and without the ball. Defended well and created a lot of chances. The boys maintained it for 90 minutes. That’s 12 goals in last four games against Premier League opposition, impressive.

“Today was a completely different challenge and the boys nailed it on Tuesday and tonight. We waned to get to 16 points before the break and that is the least they deserve.

“I have not seen it back. I didn’t notice he was down until the goal went in. I hope he is OK but it looked like his shoulder not his head. The player’s safety is most important.

“We had a few chances. You have scary moments at the other end, that is the nature of the Premier League and you have to see them out.”

On his position, he added: “I am not sure, I have not put any thoughts into my future. That will take care of itself, I am in control of my own future and how hard you work will stand you in good stead. I don’t want to talk about myself after that performance from the lads.”
