Norway coach Solbakken explains calling up injured Man City striker Haaland

Norway have taken the decision to call up Manchester City striker Erling Haaland for two international fixtures next week.

The centre-forward is dealing with an ankle ligament injury, according to his club boss Pep Guardiola.

Haaland missed two City games recently, but did return for their Premier League win over Fulham at the weekend.

“I spoke to Erling a few days ago at the latest,” Norway boss Stale Solbakken said to reporters on the squad announcement.

“His physical situation as of now is a bit uncertain, but we have in no way given up on him taking part in at least one of these matches. Then we’ll see how the situation is after City have played two more games. Erling himself wants to play for the national team, so if he is healthy and fast then he will play.”
