Agent Jorge Mendes has met with Newcastle United officials about Manchester United rebel Cristiano Ronaldo.
United are ready to rip up Ronaldo’s contract in January as a result and that would open up the door for a number of clubs to make a move.
Newcastle have already shown interest in signing the Portuguese after speaking to agent Mendes last month, says the Daily Mail.
But with Toon sitting in third place and Callum Wilson in a rich vein of form, it is not certain the club will make a move.
They are one of a few clubs who would potentially be able to afford Ronaldo’s astronomical £360,000-a-week wages, and could negotiate a lower salary if the 37-year-old is a free agent in January.
