Manchester United could withhold payments to Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes after his latest outburst.
The Portuguese veteran has struggled to accept his status as second choice at the club this season under coach Erik ten Hag.
Ronaldo gave an interview to Piers Morgan, which partially aired on Sunday, where he criticised every aspect of the club’s ownership and management.
David Seligman, a sports lawyer with law firm Brandsmiths, states that Ronaldo and his agent Mendes could see a financial cost to his latest action.
United may take action with Ronaldo’s disparaging comments of ten Hag, in particular.
“I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me,” Ronaldo bluntly revealed in Morgan’s TalkTV show Piers Uncensored.
“If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”
