Leicester veteran Vardy delighted with double in Cup win

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy was happy with his brace in their Carabao Cup win against Newport County.

The win marked Vardy’s 400th appearances for the Foxes.

The 35-year-old would have been keen to impress boss Brendan Rodgers, with Zambian striker Patson Daka having been preferred to the Foxes legend in recent times.

Vardy took to Twitter post-match and stated: “Solid team performance and nice to bag a couple of goals. Onto the next round we go! @LCFC”.

He has now left Rodgers with a selection headache ahead of Saturday’s trip to face West Ham United at the London Stadium, as Leicester look to continue a run that has seen just one defeat in their last six outings.
