Leeds striker Rodrigo: Spurs defeat very disappointing moment for us

Leeds United striker Rodrigo Moreno was left frustrated after Saturday’s 4-3 defeat to Tottenham.

The Whites took the lead on three separate occasions in the capital but were unable to capitalise as they were defeated 4-3.

Speaking on LUTV after the game, Rodrigo admitted this sort of defeat is ‘not the first time this happened’ and Leeds must use the break to rectify this problem.

He said: “Of course, it’s a very disappointing moment for us. I think when you have the chance to score three times in a stadium like this against a top opponent like Tottenham, it’s hard to finish the game with nothing.

“But that’s our reality now, it’s not the first time it has happened in the league this situation. We have to try to learn from this, have a rest now in the break and try to work hard for the comeback.”

Rodrigo also delivered his verdict on VAR’s decision not to disallow Harry Kane’s first half equaliser after Illan Meslier had been bundled into his own goal when trying to punch clear a corner. He thinks that while it could’ve been a foul, it is not something he is dwelling on.

He said: “We know that here in the Premier the referees allowed a bit more contact on ‘keepers inside the box. I think it could be a foul but that happens in almost every game of the league, we can’t say that it was just against us today. [It] Could be a foul but as I said we have nothing to do now, we are really disappointed for the result in general.”
