Inzaghi 'happy' as Inter Milan win at Viktoria Plzen

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi insists Viktoria Plzen pushed them all the way for Tuesday night’s Champions League win.

Inter won 2-0 as Edin Dzeko one and created the other for Denzel Dumfries. Viktoria also had Pavel Bucha sent off.

“We are happy, because we knew that our opponents were not to be under-estimated, as no Italian team had ever won in Plzen before,” said Inzaghi in his press conference.

“The lads did well and remained concentrated. We knew it was going to be a tough start to this season, especially with injuries, but the team is improving with match fitness as time goes on.

“The red card was an advantage for us, naturally, but until that point we were dominating the match anyway and the only thing we did wrong was only being 1-0 up.

“Romelu Lukaku will be back after the break for international duty, then I can choose on a game by game basis who to pick in attack. We need everyone this season.”

On debutant Francesco Acerbi, he added: “He did very well, it wasn’t easy, but he’s a player I know well and he can give us a big hand. The important thing is that the lads all know there is competition between them for places, that everyone can get a chance and they will all be involved.”
