Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes says team spirit is sky high after their friendly win against Crystal Palace today in Melbourne.
Erik ten Hag’s side made it three wins from three during Tour 2022 by defeating Crystal Palace 3-1, with Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho all on target during the 90 minutes.
Rounding off the action in Melbourne in style, Fernandes has stressed morale is high in the camp following another comfortable victory.
“We are obviously feeling good, the result will help with that and we are playing good football,” the Portugal international told the club’s website.
“There are a lot of things to improve on yet, but we have time to do that and be ready for the first [Premier League] game of the season.”
When quizzed on the changes being introduced, Bruno was happy to share just what he is being asked to do under our Dutch manager’s stewardship.
“We have been much more aggressive now and the three guys up front have been much more aggressive in the way they press and they are strong too,” said the former Sporting man.
“They make the last line squeeze and it makes the midfielders come a little bit higher, it makes it so, when we recover the ball, we are being closer to the ball too.
“We are much fresher to do that, and we have freedom when we recover the ball, because we get to teams and, when they recover, they are really wide. There is loads of space in the middle and, as you said, we are much better on the ball too.”
