Everton to interview Lampard and Derby boss Rooney

Everton aim to interview Derby County boss Wayne Rooney about the vacant manager’s job.

Rooney and former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard are set to be interviewed for the vacant manager’s position at Everton following Rafa Benitez’s sacking, says the Telegraph.

The Toffees relieved former Liverpool boss Benitez of his duties on Sunday with the club lying in 16th place and embroiled in a relegation battle after just one league win since the start of October.

Everton are now searching for a replacement manager with the likes of former Toffees boss Roberto Martinez and ex-Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac among the list of candidates.

Meanwhile, Duncan Ferguson is expected to lead training at the club’s Finch Farm base on Tuesday and he has made it clear he would be happy to take on the role permanently.
