Everton hero Cahill: Lampard needs to be lucky

Everton cult hero Tim Cahill hopes that manager Frank Lampard can benefit from a greater slice of luck when the league resumes.

The Toffees have been on a slightly poor run to sign off the club season before the World Cup.

They are now within touching distance of the relegation zone, despite having a strong start to the campaign.

Lampard’s job at Everton is not thought to be under immediate threat, but a run of poor results after the World Cup break could change matters.

“I think it’s difficult in football, you’re judged by results, but at the same time he’s a good young manager, he loves the club and understands what the club needs,” the former Australia international told talkSPORT.

“Hopefully this time the players can not be injured and [will] be fresh by the time everyone comes back and we can make a charge up the table.”
