Davis happy to hand Wolves control to Lopetegui

Wolves caretaker boss Steve Davis says he’s ready to hand the reins to Julen Lopetegui.

Lopetegui was introduced to the home support before defeat to Arsenal on Saturday evening.

Davis said, “It’s been good for me and James [Collins] to put ourselves against some of the top coaches in the world. It’s been a challenge but we’ve done a lot and we’re pleased.”

Asked if Lopetegui was a good appointment, he added: “Very much so with a lot of experience in international football. He watched tonight and probably been pleased with a lot of aspects. As a fan I will be watching from the stand and hopefully get some points.

“You can see the fight, we didn’t do enough in the attacking box tonight but then we didn’t do enough defensively either.”
