Chelsea defender Chalobah impressed by young teammate Hall

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has spoken about the impression made by 18-year-old Lewis Hall against Manchester City in midweek.

The teenager earned a chance to show his first team credentials as the Blues were beaten by the Premier League champions in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Despite the loss, Hall was outstanding on the left against City, making his second senior appearance for Chelsea.

Chalobah told the club website post-game: “We saw a bit of him last season when he played and made his debut and he’s a very good player, a powerful runner.

“We haven’t trained a lot to see as much of him but yeah he did really well last night.

“As a young player it’s the most important thing, to show the reason why you got given the chance and be confident. You have nothing to lose. He did really well. If he plays like that, then he’s going to give an option to the manager.”
