Bruno Guimairaes claims Howe has turned 'water into wine' at Newcastle

Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has praised manager Eddie Howe for the work he has done with their squad.

Howe took over in November last year, replacing Steve Bruce when the club were battling relegation.

Newcastle showed some of the best form in the Premier League in the second half of the season to finish comfortably mid-table.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, Guimaraes stated: “I’m enjoying working with him, I really am.

“And not only as a coach but as a person.

“I admire the way he manages the whole group. He has a very human side with everyone.

“He’s turned water into wine here, leading a team that many saw as virtually relegated to the middle of the table. He’s bringing a winning mentality to the club – crucial when you have such a big project.”

He added: “Everybody has been very helpful so far, but Eddie in particular has always given me confidence.

“He would come to me and ask: “Where do you prefer to play? Here? There? OK. What’s your favourite role on the pitch? I want to help you adjust to my playing style but you have your own characteristics too – where do you think you can help me most?””
