Brighton announce major development for Chelsea target Winstanley

Chelsea are closer to appointing a new head of recruitment in Brighton’s Paul Winstanley.

Chelsea have identified Winstanley as they continue to rebuilt their management team.

The Athletic reports Winstanley has been placed on ‘gardening leave’ by Brighton, implying the deal between the clubs is close to completion as Winstanley can no longer influence any further proceedings at Brighton.

Winstanley has been responsible for playing a significant role in securing several impressive deals during his eight years at Brighton, with Leandro Trossard, Yves Bissouma, now of Tottenham, and Moises Caicedo all excelling at Brighton.
