A non-league club has made an approach to take Erling Haaland on loan.
The Manchester City forward is not going to the World Cup, given Norway have not qualified.
He will instead have time off and then engage in training with his City teammates who are also missing the showpiece event.
Ashton United, who play in the seventh tier of English football, have put in a cheeky inquiry to pick up Haaland on loan during that itme.
An official statement on Ashton United’s website had manager Michael Clegg explaining: “It just makes sense. City aren’t playing, and we want to help by keeping Erling fit, it makes more sense than him playing golf for six weeks.
“We think he will be a great fit for us, and would slot in with our squad dynamic really well.”
